Report: Glocal Tourism Network: The First Seminar, “Sustainable Tourism Product Development Opportunities in the Pacific Islandsー” was held

On December 7, 2023, PIC, in cooperation with UNWTO RSOAP, held the first seminar “Sustainable Tourism Product Development Opportunities in the Pacific Islands” at the Glocal Tourism Network (the “Network”), which was jointly established with Kaihatsu Management Consulting Inc.

UNWTO RSOAP presented a report consolidating the findings of their conducted surveys titled “Sustainable Tourism Product Development Opportunities in the Pacific Islands” and a booklet highlighting the initiatives of pacific island countries’ tourism operators during the COVID-19 pandemic, known as “Tourism Stories Pacific 2022 – Resilience Through Crisis.” Through these materials, they provided insights into the analysis of resources, opportunities, and challenges for sustainable tourism product development in the Pacific Islands. Additionally, they shared several exemplary initiatives through video case studies.

In the latter half of the seminar, participants asked many questions and engaged in a lively exchange of opinions, providing an excellent opportunity to deepen understanding of the characteristics and needs of Pacific Island countries and sustainable tourism product development.
