In April, PIC Promotional Coordinator Ms Takada visited the Solomon Islands and Nauru.
In the Solomon Islands, she met exporters of local products like coffee, Narinut (a nut harvested in mainly the Melanesia area), and Nuznuz (bow statue), which is a traditional sculpture representing the country. Also, she held a business seminar for trade officials as well as private businesspeople in cooperation with the local Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour, and Immigration. At the seminar she explained the Japanese consumer trends of recent years as well as "ethical" production and consumption which is gaining attention in Japan.
In Nauru, she visited companies that make accessories from phosphorus ore, a main resource of the country. Finally, she met officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Government Offices, to research Nauru's latest trade development and to share thoughts about future collaboration with PIC.
