I cordially convey greetings on behalf of Pacific Island Center to celebrate the New Year.
2018 was the triennial PALM Year held PALM 8 (The 8th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting) in Iwaki City in May. PIC implemented various projects positioning the PALM 8 as the core event
PIC closed the year 2018 with a successful achievement of Japan-Palau Public-Private Economic Mission. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for generous support to PIC.
This year 2019, PIC, being finally got a full lineup, is prepared to deploy energetic activities, while aiming to make exponential leap, as an international institution for supporting business between Japan and Pacific Island Countries.
There are mainly following action agendas for this year.
-Effective business support responding each country’s and each region’s characteristics.
-Promotion of sports tourism taking advantage of the opportunities such as Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan and Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
-Reinforcement of the cooperation with relevant domestic and overseas organizations of Pacific Island Countries
On the top of those agendas, I am sure that the most important agenda is to prioritize and to make it more reliable in facilitating exchange and cooperation with supporters of PIC.
Each staff of PIC promises to continuously focus on doing one’s own best work.
