The Pacific Islands Centre (PIC) has continued its internship programme for students from Pacific Island countries, which first began in 2022. This year marks the fourth round of implementation. The interns are currently studying for Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degrees at Japanese universities through the JICA SDGs Global Leader Programme.
PIC has welcomed its group of interns for this year. Students from Fiji, Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Palau participated in the programme from 16 to 18 October. During this time, they gained insights into the activities of the PIC and visited a company that conducts business with Pacific Island countries. They also actively supported the operation of the PIC exhibition booth at ‘Global Festa 2026’, engaging with visitors and promoting mutual understanding.
Throughout the program, the interns actively exchanged ideas and engaged in meaningful dialogue. PIC will continue to deepen collaboration with Pacific Island students through internships and further strengthen networks that serve as a bridge between Japan and the Pacific Island countries.
