On 27 July 2026, PIC participated in a luncheon briefing hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Fiji in Japan in Tokyo. The event featured Mr. Kamal Chetty, Chief Executive Officer of Investment Fiji, and Mr. Parikshat Chand, Investment Promotion Manager of Investment Fiji, who were visiting Japan. Representatives from the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), and PIC attended the briefing, where participants exchanged views on Fiji’s investment climate, economic outlook, and opportunities to further strengthen economic cooperation between Fiji and Japan.
Following the briefing, PIC held a one-hour bilateral meeting with Investment Fiji. During the meeting, PIC expressed its sincere appreciation for the valuable support that Investment Fiji has provided to PIC’s initiatives and activities over the years. The two organizations also engaged in productive discussions on upcoming projects and potential areas for future collaboration.
Investment Fiji emphasized the importance of the Japanese market and expressed its strong interest in attracting increased Japanese investment, particularly in sectors identified as priorities for Fiji’s economic development. The delegation also provided a comprehensive overview of Fiji’s current economic conditions, investment environment, and future growth prospects.
The meeting enhanced mutual understanding and reaffirmed the shared commitment of PIC and Investment Fiji to strengthening cooperation and promoting closer economic and investment ties between Japan and Fiji. PIC looks forward to continuing its close collaboration with Investment Fiji and other partner organizations to support sustainable economic engagement between the two countries.
