The Second Seminar of “Japan and Pacific Island Countries Glocal Tourism Network” (from now on called “Network”), Tourism Promotion Using Drone Technology, will be held on 8 February 2024. The event details are as follows.
The second seminar theme is “Tourism Promotion Using Drone Technology”.
Nowadays, Drone technologies are used in various areas worldwide, for instance, not only for aerial photography and aerial filming but also for transportation, the agriculture industry, and inspections. These technologies become critical for small and remote island countries.
In this second seminar, we invite Mr. Yokota, a leading expert in drone photography commercials and movies. He carried out a project to revitalize local tourism by shooting cherry blossoms (namely SAKURA: a symbol of Japan) all over Japan with his drones in collaboration with local municipal governments.
He will share specific examples and key points regarding how to utilize aerial footage by drones aiming to promote branding and marketing of tourist attractions. Besides, he will discuss some examples of drone applications that benefit island countries and how to create new opportunities for education and local employment through drone technologies.
This seminar content is beneficial not only for those commit tourism marketing, but also for those interested in video production, which entails innovative promotion method.

| Biography | Mr. Atsushi Yokota (CEO of DRONE ENTERTAINMENT Co., Ltd.) -Nominated Former Representative of Japan in Drone Racing.-Won Second Place at Asia Drone Championships 2018 in Singapore. -Produced More than 500 drones (As of January 2024). He works with private companies and local governments to shoot and consult on tourism promotional videos, including a video of a large flock of whales at close range with the Tokashiki Tourism Association in Okinawa Prefecture. Beyond that, he succeeded in filming wild animals at 8K video shooting in Tanzania. Work examples： |
