Report: Glocal Tourism Network: The First Thematic Subcommittee Meeting “Tourism Development Utilizing Local Resources” was held

On November 27, 2023, PIC held the first thematic subcommittee “Tourism Development Utilizing Local Resources” (Kozu Island x Fiji) at the “Glocal Tourism Network” (hereinafter referred to as “the Network”) jointly established with Kaihatsu Management Consulting, Inc.

Unlike a seminar, this network adopts a “discussion format,” but because it was held via online, participants were able to express their opinions and send feedback to each other using the chat function.

In line with the theme of subcommittee, “Tourism Development Utilizing Local Resources,” both the Kozu Island Tourist Association and Tourism Fiji gave presentations on the tourism projects they are currently working on. Afterwards, feedback and questions were exchanged on each other’s activities, and participants’ opinions and suggestions were also taken up. The meeting ended with hints and learnings on future tourism activities from the case studies of Kozu Island and Fiji.

We would like to continue to focus on creating a forum for the exchange of information useful for ideas and measures beneficial to the tourism industry in both Japan and Pacific Island Countries, while correcting areas for improvement, so that we can eventually create a flow that will lead to major commercialization, including human exchange.
