On Thursday, March 13, “A Special Symposium Ahead of COP31,” hosted by the Sophia University Island Sustainability Institute, was held at Sophia University’s Yotsuya Campus. Director Saito delivered the opening remarks as one of the co-organizers.

First, Hon. Ralph Regenvanu, Minister of Climate Adaptation of the Republic of Vanuatu, who was visiting Japan, took the stage and delivered the keynote address. Following this, under the moderation of Professor Ori of Sophia University, who participated in the Vanuatu Economic and Environmental Mission last September, a lively dialogue and discussion ensued, primarily involving the Minister and participating NGOs and students.
