Visit to the Embassy of Papua New Guinea in Japan

On Friday, March 6, Director Saito and Trade Officer Furusawa visited the Embassy of Papua New Guinea in Japan and met with Minister Magdalene Shirley Moi-he and First Secretary Martinez Wasuak.

They reviewed the series of active economic exchanges between Japan and Papua New Guinea in 2025, including the “PNG-Japan Business and Investment Conference” held last November and the visits to Japan by Prime Minister James Marape and Minister of International Trade Richard Maru. Based on this, they exchanged views on initiatives for new business expansion in fiscal year 2026.

Efforts to improve the business environment between the two countries, such as the issuance of on arrival visas and the launch of direct flights, are progressing, and it is agreed to continue discussions between both parties to formulate concrete plans, while also coordinating with relevant stakeholders such as the Investment Promotion Authority of Papua New Guinea.
