The Pacific Islands Centre (PIC) has continued its internship program for students from Pacific Island countries, which first started in 2022, marking the third round of implementation this year. The interns are currently pursuing their Master’s or Doctoral degrees at Japanese universities through the JICA SDGs Global Leader Program.
This time, following the intake in July, PIC welcomed its second group of interns for this year. Students from Tonga, Samoa, and Papua New Guinea participated in the program from September 26 to 28. Over the three days, they gained insights into PIC’s activities, visited companies engaged in business with Pacific Island countries, and toured museums. In addition, they actively supported the operation of PIC’s exhibition booth at “Global Festa 2025” held over the weekend, engaging with visitors and promoting mutual understanding.
Throughout the program, the interns actively exchanged ideas and engaged in meaningful dialogue. PIC will continue to deepen collaboration with Pacific Island students through internships and further strengthen networks that serve as a bridge between Japan and the Pacific Island countries.
