On May 31, 2025, at Yumeshima, Osaka City, during the Osaka-Kansai Expo, we held a one-day exhibition event for the Pacific Discovery Project. With the highest number of visitors since the Expo’s opening—approximately 162,000—we were able to provide an opportunity for an estimated 3,000 people to experience and learn about the Pacific Island countries.
For this one-day-only PDP event, we created a venue consisting of two main areas: an exhibition area, where tables showcasing specialty goods and crafts from 14 Pacific Island countries were arranged based on their geographical locations, and a stage area featuring talk shows and promotional videos. Visitors enjoyed a stamp rally and quiz while exploring each country’s table, and had the chance to touch, smell, and experience the exhibits firsthand. This interactive approach seemed to bring great satisfaction to many attendees.
On the front stage, we hosted various programs, including a cross-talk session between Kanta Hara, who traveled to Tuvalu, and Wakaba, who visited Kiribati and Fiji; a segment where four Japanese-affiliated travel agencies introduced their recommended tours and local highlights; and a talk show featuring comedian Hide from the duo “Penalty,” passionately sharing his deep love for Vanuatu. Each of these events drew enthusiastic audiences.
We believe this event successfully embodied the spirit of the Expo—allowing people to experience different cultures from around the world without leaving Japan. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed and attended.
