The Fourth Seminar of “Japan and Pacific Island Countries Glocal Tourism Network” (from now on called “Network”), “Turning Waste into Tourism Resources in Palau – Toward Circular Economy”, will be held on 25 June 2024. The event details are as follows.
The fourth seminar theme is “Turning Waste into Tourism Resources in Palau – Toward Circular Economy”.
Palau has a beautiful environment, including the World Heritage Site of Rock Island, and the country places a high priority on environmental protection.
In this fourth seminar, we are pleased to invite Mr. Fuji, a consultant to the Solid Waste Management Office in Koror, who has been deeply involved in environmental protection in Palau, particularly in waste disposal and recycling. He currently oversees the operation of the Solid Waste Management Office/Belau Eco Glass Center (glass studio), a facility dedicated to recycling waste bottles into beautiful glass artifacts, such as jellyfish-shaped figurines and colorful accessories. These artifacts are available for purchase as souvenirs. The Solid Waste Management Office/Belau Eco Glass Center has been visited by government officials from other Pacific Island countries and schools from both Palau and Japan.
This seminar is beneficial not only for those committed to tourism marketing but also for those interested in environmental issues and educational travel with a focus on environmental protection.
・This seminar is certified as “PALM 10 (the 10th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting) Commemorative Project”.
