Report:Fiji Webinar “The current economy in Fiji after Covid-19, and advice for Japanese businesses on the future trade and investment”

PIC hosted an online seminar, ‘The current economy in Fiji after Covid-19, and advice for Japanese businesses on the future trade and investment’, jointly with JETRO.

After PIC Director Saito’s speech in the opening part, H.E. Isikeli U. Mataitoga, Ambassador, Fiji Embassy in Japan, gave an address to the webinar. During the main part, Mr. Craig Strong, CEO of Investment Fiji delivered a presentation on current economic situation of Fiji in the aftermath of Covid-19, trade relationship with Japan, and potential investment opportunities in various fields of business. We then had a presentation by Mr. Tachiiri, Director of Pacific Subregional Office of Asia Development Bank, explaining the economic overview of Pacific Island Countries, ADB’s activities, as well as possible opportunities for Japanese businesses. At the end of the seminar, Ms. Matsui, Trade Officer of PIC, introduced Fijian businesses interested in entering Japanese market.

PIC will plan to hold online seminars for other Pacific Islands countries, considering the situation of Covid-19.
